This CF to 1.8" IDE adapter can change the CF card to a Hard Drive for your IPOD.
Below are the step by step testing or it is a tutorial to show you the way to make it!
In this tutorial, I use an old G3 Ipod with 40GB harddrive inside. I will replace the hard drive with 2G and 1G CF Cards.
First of all, I use a thin screw driver to open the ipod case. you can see the hard drive directly after the case is opened.
With the CF card on the adapter, you can see that it is still smaller than the original hard drive. So, after you put the CF into your Ipod,
the case can still close up without problem, it will work normally. I will show you!
the adapter is thinner than the original hard drive too! So, your ipod will become abit lighter!
you can see the pins in your ipod in this fig.
One IMPORTATNT thing to do is to fix the adapter with the CF card inside the IPOD.
It is easy, Just use a double ADHESIVE TAP to stick the card inside. The adapter and card are light, it will stay inside firmly!
When I put the adapter inside, I press the menu buttom and the centre button to reset the IPOD.
After Reset, the IPOD start again and the Ipod SAD logo appear.
At that time, we must install itune into your windows system or mac system to restore the ipod.
In this example, I use winxp systems. After the itune installation, I connect the ipod to the PC and the itune detect it.
Then, this windows pop up.
Then, I unplug it from the PC and connect to the wall charger. After reboot the IPOD, the SAD logo disapear!
Then, I connect the ipod back to the PC again. The PC detect my IPOD and ask for some infos.
Then, it automatically syn the PC data with the IPOD.
I also try with my 1G sandisk CF card, it works too!
